Sandy Winhofer
Director
Sandy Winhofer is a native of Northumberland County. Prior to becoming Director of the Brush Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce in 2007, she was employed as the Community Office Manager at the Shamokin Office of Omega Bank for 3 1/2 years. Sandy has 15 years experience in the finance industry, primarily due to her employment with Northumberland County for 11 years. She graduated from Kutztown University with a BSBA degree in Business Administration/Management. Sandy is very community-oriented. She previously served the Brush Valley Area Regional Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors as Treasurer and was a member of the Chamber’s Economic Development & Governmental Affairs Committee. She was also Vice-Chair of the Brush Valley Foundation for Growth, an offspring of the Chamber. In addition to her role as Director, Sandy serves on the Board for the Lower Anthracite Regional United Way.
Other volunteer activities that Sandy is involved are: participation in the Junior Achievement Program where she enjoys going to the classroom and talking to children about business. She has been active in the program for the past four years. She is also Treasurer for the Mt. Carmel AYSO organization and coaches various sports activities. Sandy lives in Kulpmont with her husband Joe, their daughter Jordan and their son Tyler.
Harry Morgan
Regional VP, Shamokin
Harry Morgan is an employee of Central Susquehanna Opportunities, Inc. and serves as an Employer Services Representative with PA CareerLink Northumberland County. Prior to this position, he served as CareerLink Administrator of the Montour and Northumberland County PA CareerLinks. Harry has been involved with Workforce Development Programs since 1980, and is a ‘Certified Workforce Development Professional’. He serves as Chairman of the local Business Services Team, and is the Central Workforce Nine-County Region Healthcare Industry Partnership Liaison. Harry served as a prior Chamber Board of Director, and served many years with Business and Education Partnerships.
In addition to serving on several Chamber Sub-Committee’s, Harry has been very community oriented serving as a PA Notary Public, Vice-Chairman of the Mt. Carmel Area High School Educational Foundation, and Chairman of the local Joint Municipality Recreation Committee. He has served on many County and Local Government committees, Educational organizational committees, Fraternal organizational committees, and served as a former Board of Director with Shamokin Area Community Hospital.
Harry lives in Mt. Carmel Township with his wife Marsha. They have three children, Rebecca, Nathan and Jared.
Warren Altomare
Regional VP, Mt. Carmel
Warren Altomare was born and raised in the Mount Carmel area. He and his family have owned and operated small businesses in the lower Northumberland County area since 1956. He was manager of Altomare Waste Disposal from 1974 until 1999 and participated in the management of Meldot’s Children Shop during its tenure on the main street of Mount Carmel. In January of 2005, he purchased Family Home Medical and Family Home Medical Support Services and currently operates both companies out of offices in Mount Carmel.
He served for 10 years on the Mount Carmel Borough Council and was a member and Chairman of the Mount Carmel Recreation Authority for several years. He served on the Board of Directors of Ashland Medical Center for 9 years and was President of Tri County Health Associates during that time. He is a member of the Mount Carmel Lions Club for the past 28 years and is a past president of the club. He is active in numerous civic organizations in the Mount Carmel Area. Warren currently sits on the Economic & Governmental Affairs Committee of Brush Valley Chamber of Commerce.
Jeanne Shaffer
Past President
Jeanne L. Shaffer was born August 9, 1947, to Francis and Helen Derk. She graduated from Shamokin High School in 1965. She has been the Meals on Wheels Coordinator from January 1981 to the present. She also coordinates Home Delivered Meals in Trevorton and Shamokin and has served as the Northumberland County Council for the Arts Director since 2000. In 2005, Jeanne created and facilitated the first Anthracite Heritage Festival of the Arts that is held annually on Memorial Day weekend in Shamokin. In addition, her community service activities include: Shamokin Rotary Club President from 1994-1995 & 2000-2001, Rotary Group Study Exchange Leader to England in 1996, and Rotary Conference Chair in 1997. She serves on the Vision for Growth Committee and has been on the Brush Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors since 2007.
Positions she has held within her church include: Active Sunday School Superintendent, C.E. and Bible School Director, member of the Administrative Board, Past Youth Group Coordinator and participation in three mission trips to Mexico.
Jeanne is married to Michael T. Shaffer. She has one daughter, Lauri Surowiak, two sons, John and Joshua Lenker and four grandchildren, Rachel, Maddison and Owen Lenker and Zain Surowiak. In her spare time, Jeanne enjoys gardening and antiques.
